NDIS
WHAT IS NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a transformative government initiative in Australia to provide comprehensive support to individuals with disabilities. Its primary objective is to empower people with disabilities to lead more independent lives and achieve their personal goals.

Under the NDIS, participants receive individualised plans tailored to their specific needs, which may include funding for services, equipment, therapy, and more. The scheme is designed to promote inclusivity, choice, and control, ensuring participants can access the support they require to enhance their quality of life.

As the NDIS continues to evolve and expand across the country, it plays a pivotal role in improving the lives of individuals with disabilities and fostering a more inclusive and supportive society.
TYPES OF NDIS SUPPORT
The NDIS offers various types of support to cater to the diverse needs of participants. These supports are categorised into three key areas:
-
Core Supports: Core supports are designed to assist participants in their everyday activities and achieve their NDIS goals. These supports encompass daily living, transport, consumables, and social and community participation assistance.
-
Capacity Building Supports: Capacity building supports focus on enhancing participants’ skills, knowledge, and abilities. This category includes employment support, improved daily living, community participation, and recreational activities.
-
Capital Supports: Capital supports aim to provide participants with essential equipment, home modifications, and funding for one-off expenses. These supports enable participants to achieve greater independence and improved overall quality of life.
